Frequently Asked Questions

    Home Frequently Asked Questions

What are the ProStops made from and will they wear out?

Your ProStops are manufactured from the highest quality materials. All ProStops are fabricated from 6000 series aircraft grade aluminum and fitted with stainless Steel grub screws*. They are anodized in a bright selection of colours to match and personalize your bow. The HLS variants are coated with a super tough clear polyolefin layer to provide a protective barrier between the ProStops and your bow limbs so as not to damage your limbs. The CLS variants come with a complete set of proprietary formulated Compression Rings. All ProStops are now silk screened with the product details. Your ProStop HCS and HLS will not wear out. The ProStop CLS model will eventually require replacement of only the Compression Rings as these are wear points. We do offer replacement Compression Rings which are available for purchase from our online store or one of our Authorized Dealers.

    Are ProStops supplied with fasteners?

If your OEM factory draw stops are secured with a separate allen cap screw or a securing hex nut then; NO. you simply use the original securing fasteners to secure your ProStops.

How tightly should I secure my ProStops?Section

Never over tighten your ProStops! Some ProStop variants are manufactured with slots which allow you to insert a flat head screwdriver to either tighten or hold the ProStop whilst you tighten the allen cap screw. You can also use an allen key to secure some ProStop variants. In all cases, secure the ProStops to finger tightness and then simply nip tight the allen cap screw/grub screw by no more than a ¼ turn. As an extra precaution you can also apply a small drop of fletching cement (Not Cyanoacrylate) to the thread on assembly. This will ensure that your ProStops don’t vibrate loose but remain easily removable without damage.

Should I glue my Compression Rings in position?

The Compression rings are designed to fit securely to the CNC portion of the ProStops HLS or CLS variants. Again, as an extra precaution a drop of contact adhesive between the two materials can be applied.

My CLS have developed a flat spot. Is this normal?

This is normal and will in no way affect the integrity of your ProStops.

How will the different ProStops sizes affect my holding weight?

Each manufacturer’s cam systems will have its own unique draw cycle characteristics for that specific cam style. As such, in general, a step change (a step is regarded as a 1mm size change up or down) will result in approximately a 1.5pound holding weight differential.

I see some ProStops sizes are listed at, for example 9/12mm. What does this mean?

You will see quite a few of our ProStops with this style of annotation. The smaller number to the left, represents the Outside Diameter (OD) of the machined CNC cylinder portion of the ProStops, whilst the larger number to the right represents the overall OD of the ProStops when the associated Compression Rings are installed.

I shoot Elite bows. What ProStops are available to me and how does the sizing work?

We have a few options for Elite:

    • ProStops CLS – These come in a 9/12mm, 10/13mm and 11/14mm size. They come supplied with a set of Compression Rings (Soft, Medium and hard) to change up the feel of the wall.
    • ProStops HLS – These are covered with a Polyolefin coating and come in sizes, 12mm, 13mm and 14mm. They are rock sold…. Zero compression.

You’d select either of the above variants based on your shooting style. If you are a push/pull archer, the go CLS. If you are a static shooter then perhaps the HLS are the way to go.

The overall ProStop sizes listed (12mm,13mm and 14mm) are designed with the intension that you shoot your  ProStops  in the extreme (full lock) positions of the draw stop slot in the base cam. This allows you to always and quickly put your ProStops back in a repeatable position…. i.e.: to either extreme rather than somewhere in the middle of the slot. This is very useful when you press the bow a lot. So you’d select the appropriate ProStops size accordingly.  Having said that you can use any ProStop size if this design intent is of no importance to you.

    About MPA

Match Point Archery was born out of the necessity for archers, especially hinge jaw shooters, to achieve a harder, more consistent back end (wall) on their compound bows. For years, professional and amateur shooters alike complained about spongy and inconsistent walls to their bows due to generic OEM fitted stops.
